Dear Friends,
First, I want to thank you for your support of me in Democracy for America's Grassroots All-Star Contest these past two weeks. We were told by DFA that at the end the voting was very close but that we took second place to Jerry McNerney from California's 11th Congressional District. I want to congratulate Jerry and wish the best of luck as he continues in his campaign.
The good news is that the U.S. Supreme Court played no role in the decision of the close count and we are thrilled that we had so many supporters nationwide! Special thanks to our friends at Democrats.com, Buzzflash, The Ostroy Report, Michigan Liberal and so many bloggers who worked hard for us.
Number two in a nationwide grassroots poll is something to be proud of and so is our campaign to unseat Joe Knollenberg. We are tenacious and courageous and we are bouncing right back and have begun our $20 for number 2 campaign. Our staff spent a great deal of time on the contest and now our second quarter ends June 30th and so we really need those $20 dollar contributions. We also want you to sign up 2 new people to our website:
www.skinnerforcongress.com
Our goal is $40,000. That's just 2,000 people giving $20 or 1,000 giving $40.
# 2 AIN'T SO BAD - LOOK AT MY HERO AL GORE
Al Gore, who inspired my environmental career, also came in second and look at him now! His Inconvenient Truth is making a huge impact on the most pressing issue facing us -global warming. We're both involved in helping deal with a planetary emergency called global warming. I support repealing the $6 billion in subsidies to oil companies in the energy bill and using it to help our auto makers expedite the production of advanced, fuel-efficient vehicles. That is certainly worth $20.
Will you also please forward this to all those that you asked to go vote for me and have them sign up at our website:
www.SkinnerForCongress.com
If you each contribute $20 dollars and sign-up 2 people today, it will be a huge step in becoming #1 on the ballot that counts in November.
Thanks again for all your hard work on our behalf.
Nancy Skinner
